Industrial Gas – Shielding Gas for Welding Application

Shielding Gas prevents the direct introduction of air during welding. The nitrogen present in the air causes the weld to be porous and the oxygen may cause excessive weld spattering. Each gas has its own properties crucial to the weld output.

Helium is used in aerospace and aircraft design as a lifting agent and for a variety of other purposes. it serves as a pressurizing agent for ground and flight fluid systems, and a source of lift in weather and other surveillance balloons.

Helium and oxygen mix 50/50. Heliox reduces the symptoms of nitrogen narcosis, helping divers stay alert and perform at their peak. Reducing breathing resistance at depth is important for all levels of divers and makes decompression easier. Heliox also reduces decompression stops, allowing more bottom time as deep as the diver wants to go.

Helium is critical to the manufacture of semiconductors, LCD panels, fiber optic wire, and more. Helium is a molecule found in most natural gas deposits. It can be captured and used as a process gas in large quantities for production purposes.

It is used to produce cold when combined with liquid helium in cryogenic systems such as MRI machines.
